February 16, 2011 Updated Feb 16, 2011 at 2:03 PM EST Practice makes perfect as the saying goes but for the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra practice makes for nice trip to the Big Apple. "We were asked to play at Carnegie Hall in May of 2013," BPO Music Director JoAnn Falletta said. The group will be part of the "Spring For Music" festival in New York City. They will be one of six orchestras featured, chosen from a group of applicants from all over country. "It is the pinnacle of our achievement. We've been invited to a prestigious festival so it's a great day of celebration all the way around," BPO Executive Director Daniel Hart said. At the festival, Music Director JoAnn Falletta will lead the BPO. Falletta has been with the orchestra for 11 years and announced that she has signed another five-year contract with the group, Wednesday. She said she is excited to spend more time in the Queen City. Falletta also thanks the community for the orchestra's success. "I feel so proud of what the people of our community, our board, our incredible board, our volunteers, the very large support system we have here in Buffalo and Erie County. They've made it a priority and they're proud of us and we're proud to be here in this community. So we are thriving because of the people of Buffalo," Falletta said. Their focus is not only on the festival. The group has a number of shows left this season. They also highlighted their line up for next year, which includes accomplished artists from all over the world and those artists right here in Buffalo.
