It's a whole new beginning for Austin City Limits.  The legendary PBS series taped its first show Saturday night in its new state-of-the-art home at the Moody Theater.

The Steve Miller Band was the headline act. He did not disappoint fans.

"This is fabulous," said Shannon Rankin. "I love singing to all his songs."

Before the concert even started, there was a block party on Second Street with live music and street entertainment.

"The best part of Austin is live music," said Nora O'Leary.

Austin City Limits is the longest running music show in American history.

It's legendary," said Marcus Striblin. "…It's a cultural phenomenon worldwide people respect it and Austin because of it. I love it."

The show is now in its 37th season.  To celebrate, two jumbo-tron TV screens were hung from the Austin City Hall third floor balcony for people to watch the concert from the street.

"This is really cool," said Annie Taylor. "I love how lively it is. Everybody is out and I love seeing free shows it is what Austin is all about. It's awesome."

Austin City Limits is keeping the music scene alive. The next taping of Austin City Limits will be March 17th featuring Wide Spread Panic
