Sitting confidently and smilingly on the patio of the Gristmill restaurant in Gruene, Fred Andrews banters back and forth with me about life, love and music. A married, father of two, he would go on to command the Gruene Hall stage with a cool swagger and easy relaxed style.

Andrews and his band Honeybrowne have been touring around for more than a decade. Their latest EP, Indie Till We Sell Out, packs a powerful punch. The CD also includes my personal favorite song as of late, "Beautiful Waste of Time," which the band recently turned into a video. If you get a chance, check out the link under the song, you won't be disappointed.

Indie also features the song "I'm Not Saying Goodbye Today" which tells a playful story of several relationships gone wrong. The ballad "This Side of Crazy" depicts a heart gone astray, while backup vocals make you feel Andrews' loss.

Originally from Victoria, Andrews began playing guitar and performing while a student at Texas State. He put together a band and they started playing local venues. The group needed to be called something, so they grabbed their namesake off a nearby bar coaster.  And in that moment Honeybrowne was born.

"I've been making my living with music since about 2001," Andrews notes. "I may not be driving a Porsche, but I sure am enjoying it. It's a great day job and night job.
